Papillary thyroid cancer

Hi,
I'm seeking information regarding my husband's situation. He underwent a total thyroidectomy in April last year, followed by radioactive iodine treatment in August. During a recent follow-up ultrasound, a 7mm nodule on the thyroid bed was suspected, leading to a fine-needle aspiration (FNA). The FNA results indicated suspicious malignancy and atypical cells, prompting the doctor to request an MRI for further evaluation. If anyone has gone through a similar experience, please share your insights and experiences.

Thank you.

PS : His blood work and thyroglobulin level everything is normal.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Mmeg although I'm sorry to hear about your husband.

The last couple of years sound like they have been very tough, and to find out his FNA results suspect malignancy must have been very difficult.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar position to your husband will be along soon to share their experiences and advice but if you'd like to talk any of this through with one of our cancer nurses, you can do so on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very knowledgeable and will do all they can to answer your questions and support you at this time.

We're thinking of you Mmeg and will have our fingers crossed the MRI results will bring good news when the time comes.

    Best wishes to you both,
