Hello, for the past couple months I’ve had bad back, hip & groin & pelvic pain so went see the GP & had full bloods done. Came back as vitamin d deficient so put on a course of tablets. As my back and hips have got worse, I privately had a back MRI and it showed a bulging lower disc but didn’t explain the groin and pelvis and the doc said I should get a pelvic ultrasound done. I booked to see a gynaecologist last week and he examined me and said he had found a substantial polyp on my cervix & that it had to come out. He’s booked me in for Thursday this week to have it done under general anaesthetic. I’m worried sick because he said he couldn’t be black & white with me about it and we will go from Thursday. I’m terrified it’s something sinister.

I had a smear test in August that came back HPV positive but no abnormal changes and a senior nurse that I know said that the test are sensitive and that something would have been picked up if it was there. The specialist said that it will be the polyp that is causing the pain so I’m trying to keep thinking clear smear - he said what he said and I know they won’t commit until they know. Has anyone else had anything like this?
