I'm sorry, I've never come across 'more tests in 30 minutes' in this situation before. I suggest he ring the number on the letter & ask for further information. If it's that they haven't taken enough tissue for the biopsy they should explain that it will involve more surgical excision which, although it's not a long procedure, may cause post surgery problems with going back to work etc. Good luck and please let us know how he gets on,

Thank you Angie. I'm hoping it's an example of a generic (and careless) use of a generic letter. As you say, if he needs another excision, there should have been information about not driving, as there was in the first instance. I'll let you know how he gets on.

I had phone call asking me to go back after being diagnosed with MM on shin.  I had a designated nurse so I rang her.  They took another cm from around original exclusion.  Follow up Friday

Hi Ange - the recall appointment was to receive results verbally. It was better than we'd both anticipated. After worrying ourselves into a hole for over a week, the biopsy results found no cancer cells, nor pre-cancerous cells but it was deemed high risk for the future, so another, wider excision is going to be done, just to make sure. He was told that he was very fortunate that it had been spotted in time, as changes could have happened quickly had we left it. Than goodness for our surgery and GP taking a 'let's be sure' route.
