Lymph node enlarged

I’ve had a bit of a trip around specialists, it started with an urgent scan and what I originally believed to be a hernia in my tummy being a very enlarged Lymph node. More showed when checked in the scan but couldn’t be felt.

I was referred on the 2 week process but two different consultant areas returned me as they both felt it needed investigation but not with them. So after some discussion the hospital have booked a full body CT tomorrow.

Im trying to understand the process, I know next steps are either haematology or if there’s another mass referral for that but does that take long to decide? Do you take time to find where you belon sometimes? It’s all new to me and waiting not knowing what’s happening is so hard.

  • Hello 1-maple

I'm sorry to hear that some recent health concerns have left you waiting for more tests and still no further forward with a diagnosis. It's understandable that you may be feeling frustrated and concerned about things.

We know that sometimes the path to getting a correct diagnosis isn't always straightforwards and this can mean that patients are seen by different departments whilst the specialists try to gather all the information that they need. Hopefully the CT scan that has been requested will give the clinicians more information that will help them in getting a clear diagnosis for you quickly.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can.

I do hope you have some news soon. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
