Bleeding at post menopause

Hi all

Just some advice/thoughts would be great.

I have been on HRT for around 18 months and during those months have 'spotted' several times, however, last month I had a really heavy bleed, just like a period. I have had 3 internal scans, the last one a few days ago. The lining was around 9mm, the highest it's ever been!

When I started to bleed, the GP told me to stop taking HRT, which I have done. Due to the lining being thicker than should be, I am having a hysteroscopy at the weekend.

Apart from bleeding, are there any other symptoms of womb cancer?

Can HRT make you bleed, heavily, after months of being on it?

SO many questions .........................

TIA

  • Hi I have been menopausal 5 years .

1 yr after I had a bleed for a few days then nothing for another year. Same again bled for a few days not bled in 3 years started bleeding it was light pink with clear fluid.

2 weeks later I had very heavy bleed for a full week then stopped for a week then bled really heavy again fir another 10 days.

I have been for several scans and transdermpol twice then I told sonographer that they still hadn't seen me at the hospital 8 months on and she is scanning again. I then get My Dr saying he is sorry but I am being refered on the 2ww.. I went last Saturday for another transdermol scan and he tried to get biopsy. He couldn't do it. I told him to keep on trying it wasn't painful.

In the end he couldn't do it but did see multiple images.

I have previously had huge dermoid mass but was benign caused by endometriosis. That was 10 years ago now.

At my appointment my gynaecologist said he was referring me to the cancer oncologyst requesting another scan this time an MRI. That's this coming Sunday. Next Wednesday I get to see the main lead oncologyst..

Can't help but think it's news I'm not going to be pleased about. I feel so let down by not getting the help I needed when my sonographer told my gp the first time now every appointment is within days of each other. Anxiety through the roof so I can relate to you too hun x

  • Hrt contains estrogen and progesterone so it's best to come of it whilst your having all tests. I took mine of too. Both those hormones can cause thinking of the uterous. Normal is 4 to 5 my oncologyst said mine is 6.5.

I have also a tummy the size of a twin pregnancy. Bloating and gas too and very heavy feeling in my uterus.

There is a lot more info on u tube that may be of help. Don't worry to much. Good or bad there are many warriors winning their fight stay positive hun.

  • Hi there. Sounds just like my 'journey'! My thickness is 9mm! I'm off HRT at the moment and having the coil fitted at the same time as my hysteroscopy. Maybe that will help??

My stomach too, to me, is larger and whatever I do, I never seem to lose weight - I am active ( 2 exercise classes a week + an hour's squash a week!)

Good luck for the weekend, to us both!! :)
