Suspicious breast lump

Hi all, I found a lump in left breast 3 weeks ago have since been to breast clinic where I had a mammogram and then an ultrasound sound to which they found another lump (swollen lymph node) in the armpit. Had biopsies done and consultant has said they are both suspicious. Have waited a week so far and the suspense is killing me, feel like a lost sheep and my emotions are going wild. I have 3 children and I’m 42. Just wanted to to see if anyone in the same position that wants to talk? Going to chase up the breast nurse tomorrow so see if my results are back. The fact they have said they are suspicious does that mean they most likely will be?

thanks

bless you it’s a horrible time waiting

I was told mine was suspicious and a week later it was confirmed as breast cancer , however this is not always the case it was sadly in mine , but that was a year ago I’m fully back to normal crazy life and it wasn’t even that bad to be honest

    good luck love Lara xx

  • Hi Laraj,

thanks for the reply I’m pleased you have fully recovered and are well. I know treatments are marvellous now but it’s the waiting and the not knowing that is driving me mad.

may my appointment I could tell the atmosphere in the room changed I knew I was going to get a diagnosis at the back of my mind , they also asked me to bring someone with me to my appointment the following week so I prepared for bad news x

  • That week was the worst week of my life I feel for you , but not everyone gets bad news when they are told it’s suspicious I have seen it here a few times they get all clear x

  • I got that feeling too as the consultant was telling me that both lumps were suspicious for cancer but she can’t diagnose until the results are back. I’m preparing myself to be cancerous but can’t stop thinking what if it’s spread. I know I’m over thinking! Do you work? Did you take much time off of work? X

  • TB

Honestly, I worked right through I took one day each side for my operation that was it I never felt like I have even had cancer , my mindset was no way it’s getting me , I flew it if it’s bad news for you you will too , I had a few wobble days but it never stopped me doing anything as normal I kept everything the same sort of ignored it it worked for me x

  • Hi Tb, I’m so sorry to read this but like Lara says, so many do turn out to be clear too. Can I ask where the lymph node swelling is ? Is it in the armpit or side of breast etc. I’m awaiting my appointment for a lump near to the nipple and a second small one. The GP also found another hard one. Just curious where the lymph node one is.

    sending hugs xx

  • Hi lofty,

it’s in the armpit but I ant feel it myself it was picked up on the ultra sound. Sorry to hear you’re in the same scenario. It’s horrible waiting isn’t it. Have you had monogram yet? X

  • My appointment is 17th, 13 days from gp appointment. I found a lump in January and after an ultrasound (I’m 39) FNA and core biopsy as it was a solid lump, they said it was a benign fibroadenoma. Around 6 weeks ago I noticed another lump in my other breast. Left it and after 4 weeks it was still there. Then noticed a smaller 2nd one on the outside upper part of same breast. I wondered if this was a smaller one or maybe a lymph node I was feeling. That’s why I asked the question to you. Went to gp and she found another hard lump at the top.

at the appointment I will be 10 days of 40 so unsure if it would be a mammogram or ultrasound like last time.

I’m so sorry they’ve said it’s suspicious. It is the waiting that’s rubbish. I’ve read so many stories on here where it’s turned out ok or even when it’s not, the patient feels better once they have the full facts.
sending you lots of positive vibes xx

  • Tbhow you doing ? Any results back yet ? Hope all is well xx
