Possible liver cancer

Hi, I'm a little confused, my partner has a condition called GCA, its pretty horrible and he takes medication for it as well as regular blood test, his white blood cell count is usually high, also h is CRP is usually over 100, but the dr did different blood tests on top of his usual ones...he went to the G.P yesterday and he says he was told his liver is working OK, but the high Gamma says its cancer,   my question is, has he miss heard? I find it hard to accept that it can be diagnosed without further tests, I believe he was possibly told it could be a marker for possible cancers? He has been put on the two week fast track for scans.

Many thanks for reading.

  • Hi traimai,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It does sound like perhaps further tests would be required to give answers, but of course I can't say for sure what the doctor may have said. If he has been referred for further tests, perhaps this will then be the opportunity to get the required information.

In the meantime if you have questions about what the doctor may have said based on the tests that have been done so far, you can either try to get answers from the doctor, or you can give our nurses a call, who may be able to provide some general advice. If you'd like to do this, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5).

    Wishing you all the best,
