Hi,

I'm afraid the wait for results is getting longer due to Covid backlogs, strikes and a huge lack of dermatologists. It's currently between 6 to 10 weeks. Some hospitals tend to send appointments out for weeks in advance to give histology time to return the results and for the consultants to discuss them at the weekly Multi disciplinary team meeting (MDT) before informing the patient. If they are lucky enough to receive them quicker than anticipated they may send another appointment for an earlier date so don't panic if this happens. Also, don't panic if they change the appointment to a face to face one which can sometimes happen.

The waiting is the worst part so try and keep busy to distract yourself. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

Hi AngieT, hope you are keeping good and your family. Just a wee update: I got letter for telephone appointment for 7th Nov, got letter 2days to say due to unseen circumstances it was cancelled and would send me out another date. Was so upset and worried , so I tried ringing hospital were biopsy took place and actually got speaking to a lady. This lady gave me the bestest news ever and told me my lesion was benign.  I have been worried and haven't been myself for 17weeks since I went to doctors, but this is the bestest news and just to let people know if they get letters like me , it might be good news. So so so happy, it feels unreal.

Received letter today with all details on it, my 3rd letter the one I was dreading opening.   But the bestest news ever.

I'm so pleased to hear your good news. It's been a fraught time for you but you can now put it all behind you. Thank you for updating us as it really does help others to know that not every biopsy brings bad news. Take care xx

I really thought it was going to be bad news as I was red flagged and it did look very suspicious, but just shows that even an urgent red flagged suspicious mole can be benign.
