worried about uterine cancer

I've been having issues with periods for the past few years extremely heavy and they never end, as well as bleeding after intercourse and inbetween periods. I've basically been bleeding all the time without going into tons of detail - my latest tv/ultrasound showed a thickened lining of 12mm (bleeding for 30 days at this point) with a few small cysts on my lining and a bulky uterus.

I have a hysteroscopy booked for October to investigate along with a biopsy and coil.

I have PCOS. I'M 30 with two young children

  • I've just posted a very similar thread. It's scary waiting isn't it. They think it's Endometrial hyperplasia with me. I still don't have my appointment date though.

  • I'm sorry you are going through the same! It is scary. I also think my diagnosis will be hyperplasia too, hoping it's easily reversed for us both.

  • Hi. I had my biopsy done this morning. I now have to wait 1-2 weeks for my results. It's a really scary time. Hugs x

  • Hi sparkle1, My fingers are crossed for you, I hope the weeks pass quickly. I'm still bleeding and waiting for my procedure date (17th) :(

  • I had a diagnosis of atypia hyperplasia after biopsy early this year, I’m postmenopausal so the recommended treatment was a hysterectomy (I'm almost 60) they couldn’t do hysterectomy when originally planned in June because my blood sugar was too high, so I was sent home with an appointment to go back in September and in the interim they would fit a Mirena coil, which they did a week later.

Now I hated that Mirena coil I bleed every day from the moment it went in to the day they removed it when I had my hysterectomy 2 weeks ago and there were many times I wanted them to take it out.

Fast forward to this week and my biopsy results from hysterectomy were back, no cancer (40% chance of cancer being found after hysterectomy with atypia hyperplasia) and no hyperplasia…not even a sniff of it, so that pesky mirena coil did it’s job.

The point of my post is, if they offer you a mirena coil I’d say take it as it’s often the case that the hormones from it can make the hyperplasia go away.

There are of course 2 types of hyperplasia, mine was the complex atypia which is the more serious of the two, I think the other one rarely leads to a cancer diagnoses.

Hope you get normal results x

  • Oh bless you. Keep us informed xx

  • Thought I'd update, I had my hysteroscopy/colposcopy as planned, my cervix looks fine which is positive news, they took a biopsy of my lining as planned and they also found two polyps which we didn't know I had via ultrasounds, they removed them also and I believe sent them off for testing. I had the mirena coil inserted at the same so I'm hopeful this will help! She said my womb was bulky for no known reason (this must be a newish thing because ultrasounds a few years ago never showed a bulky rus) I'm just waiting for biopsy results now.. how are you @ sparkle1
