Positive QFit calprotectin 500 bloods clear colonoscopy bowel cancer

Hi there

My husband has been having serious stomach issues for 2 months now. He's intermittently been passing blood but passing mucus several times a day with stomach cramps.  He has been getting tests and is awaiting a colonoscopy.  We have bowel cancer in the family so are obviously concerned. He's been told he has a positive QFit and a very high inflammation level of 498 from his stool sample. However on a positive note his bloods are clear.  I just wanted to ask of others experience? If it was bowel cancer I assume the bloods would indicate this?

Thanks in advance

From a worried wife

  • Hello Sumak

I'm sorry to hear that your husband is undergoing some medical tests at the moment. It's understandable that you're feeling worried.

I can see that you also posted in our Ask the Nurses topic area and have had responses from Nurse Sarah and another community member Stoma-Simon over on that post.

They've given you some good advice and hopefully he won't have to wait too long for the colonoscopy and some reassurance from the medical team.

Try to keep busy and think positively. I do hope that things settle and improve soon.

    Best wishes,
