Bleeding between periods, please help!

Hi all,

So I had my period last month as planned, but I passed what I thought was a pretty big blood clot or like my whole uterus lining in one (googled it, of course)

this month, I had my period as normal but then 3 days after my period ended I started bleeding again. It wasn’t heavy but it also wasn’t just spotting.

the bleeding then stopped for a couple days, but then I had sex with my boyfriend and the bleeding started again immediately after and lasted just over a day. It stopped yesterday but then when I woke up this morning I noticed blood again!

I have had slight stomach cramps in the top of my belly like under my rib cages but nothing too bad and it hasn’t been constant.

I started back on the pill 2 months ago, after a year or so break. I’m not sure if this has anything to do with the bleeding.

I’ve obviously googled it and it’s telling me all sorts of sinister things!

I did go to the doctors today but they didn’t really reassure me at all! They just said “hopefully it’s just a blip because of the pill” and are arranging for me to have my smear test and swabs done but this isn’t until November and my mind is all over the place!

Please can anyone give some advice if they’ve experienced anything similar?

thank you so much for taking the time to read this/respond

  • Hello Ellie,

    Thank you for posting.

I'm sorry to hear about the unusual changes in your menstrual cycle but I'm glad you took action and went to your doctor to have this properly investigated. While waiting for these tests, try not to overly stress yourself, as stress can sometimes exacerbate these issues.

I understand how unsettling this situation can be, especially when you're researching online and encountering various information.

If you continue to feel uneasy or if symptoms worsen, don't hesitate to contact your doctor again for further clarification or guidance. Your health and well-being are important, and your doctor will have the best insight into your specific situation.

    All the best,
