Appointment changed

I was due to get some breast lump biopsy results by phone tomorrow but they have called today to say I now have to go in for a face to face appointment. They won’t tell me anything over the phone but I’m now fearing the worst. Has this happened to anyone else?

  • I was told that biopsy results would not be given over the 'phone but that, once they had the results, an appointment in person would be made. Maybe they made a mistake the first time saying they would be only verbally given?

  • Thanks Mary. They gave me the time and date for the phone call and then called today and said some phone calls are changed to face to face and mine was changed.

  • Hi Saz,

I understand your concern, but try not to overthink things. Most consultants prefer to give results face to face, regardless of whether they are good or bad. Did they advise you to bring someone with you - they usually do. It is all too easy to forget what is said when we are so uptight and it is always useful to have someone to help you recall what was said afterwards.

Receptionists don't usually give any information over the phone. I shall be thinking of you tomorrow and hope that nothing untoward has been found. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
