Colonoscopy pain

I had my colonoscopy yesterday and it was the worse pain I have ever felt in my 60 years.

The blurb says mild discomfort, the staff said the same so when asked if I wanted (cannula pain relief ?) I said I'll just have G&A.

Well, reading here, I don't think it would have made a difference.

The G&A, I might as well have been blowing and sucking in a smartie tube, I don't think it was on seriously.

I honestly think too much air was pumped into my colon, the pain was a new level for me (once had an exposed knee cap in bike accident)

As stated on here, I was told to pump, but I just couldn't manage much.

Last night I couldn't lay, stand or anything without severe pain.

Finally getting to sleep out of pure tiredness.

The air has gone now but feel really bruised, it feels like an unfit person doing 300 sit-ups and ripping their stomach muscles to bits.

I was asked what pain level I experienced 1-5 I chose 5 extreme pain.

They took four polyps and now awaiting the big reveal .

I'm glad I found this forum because the truth is being told.

Okay maybe only 3 out of ten may feel this pain (guessing here) but their is pain and PAIN.

Thanks for allowing me to offload !

  • Hi Paulyb,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's part of what this forum is here for - to be able to offload and get things out. I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience with this. As you have noted, there are a few others here who have experienced similar, though it is of course not always the case. I hope that you are feeling better now, and also that it's not too long to wait before getting the results.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
