Neck lump / blood results / lymphoma?

25F (FYI - father has lipoma lumps everywhere and I have other raised lymph nodes that have been raised for years and checked)

I have had a lump in my supraclavicular node on the right side of my neck for a couple of years now, it is hard and doesn’t move but also you can’t really see it or feel it properly unless I tense my shoulders then it is very prominent. It is about the size of half a golf ball, maybe bigger, aches sometimes when touching. I can’t take a picture because it doesn’t show only the area is maybe slightly more swollen than the other side. No other symptoms apart from lymph node pain the day after a night of drinking but I have had this for years. I had a blood test my Dr said to have to show any markers for lymphomas and it came back with low serum ferritin (17) with normal range of 30-250, haemoglobin was 132 normal range is 115-165 apparently. Lymphocytes 1.1 and neutrophil count 4.7. After researching apparently blood tests don’t show lymphomas but anaemia is a sign of it. Please does anyone have any idea what I should do? It isn’t growing or anything but I’m worrying.

Thank you

  • Hello Amber_009,

It might be a good idea to give the doctor who organised these blood tests a call to discuss your blood results. Do mention that you are worried because you read that anaemia can be a sign of lymphoma - I am sure your doctor will be able to tell you more. As you are so worried at the moment about this lump, it's definitely a good idea to go back to your GP and to share your worries and concerns. Your GP will also be able to tell you whether they think further tests are needed.

I hope that you will hear from others here who've had similar issues with neck lumps before and blood test results and that they will share their story with you. It does help to talk to others who've been through a similar situation.

    Best wishes,
