In September last year, I found one painless lump in my right breast, I had it checked by the nurse who said I had “lumpy” breasts and that because of my age (26 at the time) it wouldn’t be cancer. I did think lumpy breasts would mean several lumps but accepted it and went on my way.
Fast forward to the beginning of August & I have felt thickening of my breast tissue and a hard lump, again in my right breast. All painless. I put off going to the GP as I thought I just had lumpy breast tissue. What prompted me to get checked was a hard swollen lymph node in my right armpit, thankfully this seems to have gone down in size over a couple of weeks but the area is still tender. I attended the GP on Thursday 7th & he thinks it’s a fibroadenoma because of my age (now 27) but couldn’t be 100% sure from just an exam. I’m not able to check changes of the lump around my menstrual cycle as I’m on the progesterone-only pill so don’t have periods.
I was referred urgently to the breast clinic & my appointment is tomorrow. Like others, the waiting has caused me so much stress & anxiety (although I know I’m lucky it’s only been a relatively short wait compared to others).
I know that due to my age it’s a small chance it’ll be cancer but it’s still really scared me. I don’t really have many people to speak too so just wanted to vent. Sending everyone positivity
