Petrified of pancreatic cancer..

Hi all,

I am 35 male, dad of 2 and married. The last 2 years have been probably the worst of my life.

I have been having what started as back pain, between shoulder blades, then is in the upper abdomen also. It’s been steadily getting worse and I have been to my doctors on multiple occasions, who just gave me PPIs.

I am suffering from the pain stated above, as well as fatigue, lack of appetite, bloating and some nausea. Endoscopy was clear. My stools are formed, but greasy, and always float 100% of the time.

Fecal Elaste and bloodwork is normal.
I have more bloods tomorrow, and my doctor has now booked me in for an “urgent CT scan” of my abdomen and pelvis.

ultrasound that I paid private for was clear of the gallbladder but they couldn’t see my pancreas.

it’s gone on for so long that I’ve just been googling away trying to find some relief but as we all know, it shows the worst things all the time.

im sorry for the long rant, I’m at my wits end and just need to put it out there that I am scared, I know only the CT scan will give me true results.

thank you for reading

  • Hi WorriedDad87,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling with these symptoms for a while now - I appreciate the uncertainty must be difficult to deal with.

It's good to hear you have further tests booked - hopefully it won't be too much longer to wait for the appointments for these and the results to follow.

It's often helpful to write things down so I hope that the forum can be of some help to you in the meantime, and that you get some more replies here soon.

Do try to steer clear of Google as the information will often be irrelevant and only tends to increase worries.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi, I can see you posted 5 months ago but was wondering how your scan went? I’m 25 going through the exact same. Had my CT this morning. Did you wait long for results?

  • Hi,

Yes I had a scan, it came back all clear.

although I am still suffering with the pain in my back but I am working with a physio and on naproxen to try and help.

the Ct scan took about 2 weeks to give me results, no issues at all so it did settle my mind
