Visible breast ‘lump’

Hi all, new here and driving myself a little bit crazy.
Had found a breast lump about 4 weeks ago - GP confirmed ‘thickening and lump’ and referred as USC -  have appointment in breast clinic in a week.
Lump is now quite prominent as has grown by about 50% in last 10 days. I’ve also noticed some dimpling but only in certain positions.
I’ve not really spoken to anyone about it as don’t want to worry my husband and hopefully will be nothing to worry about, but am panicking.
Thanks for being a sounding board xx

  • Hi everyone,

just an update on my referral today.

I first seen a consultant who checked me over,,for quite a while, she suspected there was something that wasn’t quite right and sent me for an ultrasound….the ultrasound consult and said that they had found a definite solid lump, checked my lymph nodes and said they looked to be clear..she wanted me to have a mammogram and biopsy, Mir waiting around then had my mammogram which also showed the solid lump. Went back into the ultrasound room to have my biopsy, it wasn’t painful and she took around 4 biopsies, then put in a metal tag so they can find it later on, I asked if it was suspicious and she said “yes I’m sorry to it but yes it’s very suspicious” fast forward to my consultation with the consultant at the end who said she was sorry it wasn’t good news but couldn’t say it was 100% until they can provide the info from the biopsy so they can prepare a treatment plan etc…….so they have basically said I’ve got cancer without saying I have cancer…..2 week wait for my biopsy results now xx

  • Oh my goodness Lilbell. I'm sorry to hear that. Sending you hugs and positive thoughts. It's a shame that they said that to you without having the results from the biopsy. I hope they receive them soon.

I'll be here if you need to vent.

  • Sorry to hear that it wasn’t better news for you today Lebell and you have to go through the waiting process again, as snoopydoo said here if you need to chat. Sending lots of love xx

  • HI Lebell,

I'm so sorry to hear this and know just how deflating this feels. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer and was told that my mammogram and ultrasound were suspicious both times. It is devastating at the time, but it does give you more time to take it all in before you get your results. It also gives you a chance to draw up a list of any questions you may have, before you get your results appointment. I have also been through the testing regime a third time, when my consultant was sure that it was cancer, but the biopsy proved otherwise.

It is now 14 years since I was first diagnosed and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life, so try not to despair.

Remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • I’m so sorry to hear your news x

  • Thank you it’s good to know there’s still a chance, hopefully they have it wrong, it’s just frustrating to wait two weeks, the consultant provisionally had me in for results on 29th but I go on holiday that day, she’s hoping they come sooner so she can maybe get me in sooner but also said some consultants are on strike atm (typical). I don’t suppose anyone knows if you can pay to get your results quicker privately? Thanks everyone xx

  • Lebell, I’m so sorry to hear your news, such a shock, there must be so much you’re trying to process right now. I am sending so much love. We are all here for support and there is such a wealth of experience on this chat forum available to help you anytime. xx

  • Hi , your consultant has said that she’d try to get you in sooner if she can , you would have to see her privately as I don’t think another consultant would do it . You could try ringing her secretary and asking x

  • Hi Lebell,

When the biopsy was carried out in the NHS, there will be no way of paying for the results privately.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi, I had the biopsies done yesterday at my appointment, but I go on holiday on 29th so just was t sure if I could get them quicker if I went private, although I know nothing will happen now u til I’m back so it doesn’t really matter, it would just be better if I knew the extent of what I’m dealing with before I went away that’s all.

    thanks
