Urgent referral for breast lump

Hi all,

I’m new here, hope you’re all doing ok - thanks for reading my post.

it’s 2.40am and having real trouble sleeping at the moment as the panic has set in - I’ve been ok up until now.

I noticed some lumpy areas in my left breast and got an appointment last Friday at the docs, who have referred me to the breast clinic under the 2 week period (still awaiting an appointment).

in 2021, I found a lumpy area in my right breast in the inner lower quadrant and had a ultrasound which revealed it was a lipoma. I mentioned this to the doc last Friday who didn’t examine this breast. I have now realised that what I assumed was the lipoma in the same area is now possibly an additional hard lump and I’m now worrying myself silly - I don’t remember the lipoma feeling so hard but have assumed for a long time it was the original lipoma.

I know it’s worth awaiting my appointment at the breast clinic  rather than going back to the doctors as they can’t do anything, it’s just trying to manage the anxiety and the horrible spiralling thoughts.

please let me know if you have any tips for handling the worry for anyone else in the same boat - thanks for reading my early morning ramblings!

love to you all x

  • Thank you- as you suggested, the MRI showed more very small lesions- the doctor said it was like a little daisy chain. They wanted to biopsy the ones furthest from the biggest lump, and make sure they knew how big the segment to removed needs to be. The other lesions are really small and wouldn’t really be visible to the surgeon.

It turns out the MRI also showed a cyst on my liver, which I may be called back about. I’ve been told they are common and I may even have been worn with it- just another thing to worry about, in case I should run out of worries!!

  • That was supposed to say BORN with it !!

  • Aww ok so did you have your biopsy today too? Do u need to wait for those results before they will book in your surgery?

I missed a phone call from the hospital at 5:30 tonight, they left a voicemail saying my oncologist needed to book in some further tests and to ring them back but I was too late, I’m now worried they might have picked something else up on my MRI like you, hopefully they will ring back in the morning.

all this waiting and tests is testing me.

hopefully your liver will be fine and it’s maybe just the norm for you.

    xx

  • Yes- I had biopsies in two more places. I’m really hoping they will boom in my surgery still as the waiting is driving me mad!!

I think the MRI is so sensitive it picks up every little things, but I guess that’s good really. If I have loads of tiny lesions I’d rather them know they’ve taken them all out than find a few months down the line I’m back in the same position. I hope your call back is nothing to be too concerned about.

Yes, hopefully the liver thing is nothing of concern. Of course I’ve already consulted Dr Google, but it didn’t cause me any alarm!!

  • Yes very true best they know everything now so they can get it all at once. Hopefully they will book it anyway as the only thing that would change is how much they remove, as long as the booked it for sufficient time for results I don’t see why they wouldn’t.

we should all have learned by now not to consult dr Google but we do anyway lol. that’s good tho best you focus on one thing at a time xx

  • Yes- that’s what I’m thinking. I’m trying to see it all in a positive light. Tomorrow I will hopefully know more as regards the way ahead.

I hope you manage to get your extra tests booked in tomorrow. I’m sure the doctors will tell you what it’s all about when you’re there- it’s just a bit alarming when you get the call xx
