never ending tests

hi all,

it's been a while since i was last on here! i hope everyone's doing well :)

my previous scans and blood tests all came back normal, with a few reactive lymph nodes in my neck and a few raised bloods, but nothing noteworthy- and then last week happened. i think it's important for me to mention that i work in a hospital! i felt really poorly for a few days, but thought i had some virus and went to work. one of my colleagues made me book myself into a&e, as i had full left-sided weakness with pins and needles on my arm, leg and neck/back of head, as well as awful fatigue, fever, vision and speech issues, dizziness and pressure at the back of my skull. it was really scary and i'm now on sick leave due to my inability to walk and have to use crutches.

whilst in a&e, i had a ct scan of my brain which they said was okay, except i had some fluid build up in a small area. they originally wanted me to stay as an inpatient whilst waiting for the mri to become available, but i wanted to be at home. they referred me for an outpatient brain mri 2 days later which i had today, and was told I would get the results today too. however, i arrived at the outpatient clinic after my scan, and they told me they wanted to speak to some higher-up people about the results and that they'd call me instead of seeing me today.

my question is, should i be more worried about the fact that they've done this scan so quickly and that they want to speak to more senior people about the results? i feel like this scan was marked as urgent for them to be giving me results so quickly. thank you in advance xx

  • Hi eflzx,

I'm sorry you haven't received a reply up to now - hopefully you have now heard more.

It's always difficult to advise on these things - there's no real way to guess or assume anything. I appreciate the waiting and uncertainty is difficult, so I hope you hear more soon, if you haven't already.

    Wishing you all the best,
