Hi hope you don't mind me jumping on your post. I've just seen your post Steve. I'm 50 and I've been having abdominal pains now for 8 weeks. I've also had weight loss, tiredness and my bowel habits have changed. I've just had a FIT test and that has come back abnormal. So I've been told I need a colonoscopy for suspected cancer. I've read this post and it has given me some relief but I am worried as you can imagine. 

I know exactly how you feel as does everyone else on here. You just need to remember that there's multiple things it could be. Using Google can be worse as well as it makes you more paranoid! I was the world's worst for it and it drove me round the twist.

9 out 10 people get the all clear so that's something you need to remember as well.

To have your cararact done my mum had it done and said it was OK. She has got to have her other eye done and said she wouldn't be worried about it as it was OK. Xx

I was worried about that but I was fine..think they time it so there's nothing left in you a couple of hours before you have it done..I took a towel and tissues and a change of clothes just in case but didn't need any of them xx

Ah thank you for messaging Helen that's so kind. I have drank it. It took me about 40 minutes I didn't get on that great. It really upset my stomach so I struggled with it. Food and tbh drink upsets my stomach at the best of time so this really didn't go down well. I only drink water. So I'm not looking forward to the one in the morning now if its about the same. I split it into 4 like Steve suggested I gulped the first like you suggested and was doing ok but I was nearly being sick by the end. So then went to the straw like Sue suggested it was tough but finally finished it with water and ice pop too. Tbh if I wasn't struggling with my stomach as much it wouldn't have been as bad. Thank you for asking xx

This morning was alot better it was a better taste. But I unfortunately didn't finish it there was about just over an inch left in the glass. I had to dash to the toilet and by the time I came down it was around 7.30 so I didn't want to drink it then as I should ha e had it around 6am so was worried about the time. But I bet that amount won't matter I drank most of it. Only a bit left. Thank you be glad when this afternoon is over xx

I had a little bit of blood this morning and miraculously I had a doctors appointment at 11. She said it's probably nothing to worry about but something has triggered my proctitis and it's flared up. 

I did however find out that they're checking what they sent off for analysis and it's possible I have crohns disease!! Nobody tells you anything. My gp said it might be another 4 weeks until I know. The main thing is I don't have the dreaded cancer but I thought it was all done and dusted!

I've said on here before that the nhs is wonderful but the communication is terrible.

I was told at the hospital that it doesn't matter if you don't drink all of it.

Usually they can tell crohns due to inflammation. but it may not have been inflamed during the procedure hence why its been sent off. They should have really explained the findings with you however.

Nothing was explained tbh. 

They done the colonoscopy, diagnosed me with proctitis and that was it. Oh and gave me a prescription for the suppositories.

Don’t forget the suppositories Steve !! lol. They usually do send off anything that they take off for biopsy, we was told about 4 weeks to get results back, . I’m surprised they didn’t tell you about the crohns if they had seen it but at least you know now and the doctor will treat it hopefully. My grandson has that he’s only 25 and not doing so well with it at the moment, always has to know where the toilet is, yours doesn’t sound too bad and hope it stays that way xxx

Yes that sounds similar to me,when I need to go I really need to go like instantly. Its a bit embarrassing at times but I won't go into details!

25 is very young for that as well isn't it? 

Oh no on the Blood bless you. How awful that no one told you that you would have thought that they would have said something to you when they talk to you after the procedure wouldn't you. Let's hope you find out soon. What have you got to do about the blood?
