2ww breast clinic appointment and scared

Hello all, this is my first post.

I found a hard, round lump in my right breast a couple of weeks ago. I saw the gp last Monday and was referred to the 2ww breast clinic and have my appointment on Friday.  My anxiety is through the roof and I have convinced myself it's going to be bad news.

Just to add to the stress I start a new, very physical, job tomorrow and I'm so worried about what will happen if it is bad. I almost feel guilty that I'm having to ask for time off for the appointment before I've even started. Also panicking about things like sick pay and how any of that would work.

Anyway just needed to vent and after reading other posts I know you'll all understand.

Xx

  • Hello , so sorry you are facing this but my advice would be ….. take a deep breath first of all . You don’t say how old you are but not all lumps are bad news . It’s up to you of course but you may have to confide in your new boss . It’s very hard to deal with even without the stress of a new job too ! Try to keep as busy as you can to keep your mind occupied . I would just say to take one day at a time . If it is bad news , and it may not be , MacMillan can advise on sick pay etc . I wish you all the best and hope all is ok xx

  • Thank you LCR for your reply. I'm 41, my nan had breast cancer as well as brain tumors so I think it's always been in the back of my mind.

I have spoken to my new boss who was very understanding but can't help feeling I'm letting them down

  • Yes I’m sure it’s a real worry for you , but let’s hope it’s a harmless lump and that you soon have your mind at rest. I’m sure your new boss understands and that it can’t be helped xx
