Fast track referral

Hello this is abit of a long story but here goes I am now 32 and a mother of two. I had a subtotal open surgery hysterectomy in 2020 and left with a cervix and one ovary. I had uterus both fallopian tubes and one ovary removed due to gynae issues. No problems at all then the past year I noticed bleeding after intercourse and pain during intercourse every single time with my husband and also bleeding when not sexually active thick stringy mucus etc I went to my gp who did a fast track cancer referral there was a small lump found at the end on my cervix so I had a small punch biopsy which came back ok but my question is - the consultant did say he thinks the issue could be further up in the cervix not visible with the naked eye so did the gp. It’s been 7 weeks since my lunch biopsy and I’m still having the same symptoms in fact somedays it’s like I’m having a moderate period! No pain just bleeding so I’m wearing pads daily and very odd thick stringy mucus I suppose my question is could there possibly be cancer lingering further up in the cervix as they only checked the bottom of it with a very small biopsy I have no uterus so in my opinion I should not be bleeding daily or experiencing this pain it is worrisome with having two small children! Thank you for listening xx

  • Hi , I would suggest going back to your Gp. You may have an infection . In any case see if he will chase a follow up with the consultant . You could call the nurse specialist who may be able to liaise with the consultant . Good luck

  • It seems strange that they have not tested further when both the GP and Consultant believe the problem could be further up in the cervix ,you'd think by now they'd have sent you for further testing ,I would not leave it any longer I would get in touch with the GP or Consultants secretary .
