Firm lump found

Okay so long post after finding another lump and scared beyond belief! Wanted to see if anyone else on here is on the same position or can offer advice or support please to stop me turning grey with worry. So 8 days after my period I noticed a small firm lump in the upper inner area of my right breast. Got it checked out and the nurse also felt the lump so the fast track referral came my way for 11th Sept. The worry on my mind and panic I've ended up booking private for a breast consultation with Nuffield and went today. Whilst he wasn't hugely concerned he has referred me for an ultrasound on Wednesday because he could also feel what he said was either muscle infront of my rib leading to it stick out, or a cyst. He told me not to worry as if didnt feel it was a suspicious lump.  I

However my mind 0-million in that brief chat and googling breast cysts makes me paranoid incase it's a suspicious cyst. I've read on doctor Google the varying ones and some are the big C word and pr ing it's just a normal simple cyst if that's what it is.

Bit of background on the same breast. I had the same location checked in 2017in breast unit from fast track referral. Although the nurse couldn't feel anything she described as sinister, I insisted on a scan. The girl scanning did see something but said it fitted in with what the nurse told me about hormonal cysts. It wasn't ever checked though and now on my mind again. Arrragghh..

  • Hi Cath,

I am sorry to hear that you find yourself in the unenviable position of waiting for an ultrasound scan. It sounds as if your consultant thinks that this is a benign cyst. It is always a worry until you find out for certain. I sincerely hope that you get good news on Wednesday.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you so much for yoir reply Jolamine. I think I'm getting myself into a state but until the scan I'm guessing we all feel like this amd that's the reason we come here knowing others have been through the terrifying wait for results.

I hope you are well, it's so lovely to have this page and lovely people like you all to talk too. Xx

  • Hi Cath,

The worst thing you can do at the moment is to consult "Dr Google". It always throws up the worst case scenario and fortunately, this seldom turns out to be the case. I hope that all goes well on 11th. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you so much I will do! Hope everyone on here stays well and sending hugs for anyone going through the long waits x

  • So just to update everyone or anyone wanting some reassurance which I'm hoping I have.

It's the 11th September today and had my ultrasound and biopsy. Breast nurse said she felt the hard 8mm lump and sent me for the ultrasound. Ultrasound showed the lump had smooth edges but still the biopsy was done. It didn't really hurt just a little sting more than anything. The nurses were so lovely.

After the biopsy the nurse was lovely called me back in to view the images. She said it looks okay but has to be put through the testing as they all do when they aren't sure. My first ultrasound I had two weeks ago showed slight jagged edge but this was a week before my period and the nurse said wasn't as clear as today now my breast are post period and softer!  Obviously the biopsy results will say what it is and the nurse did say it's either very early if anything but looks like breast changes and not too concerning. Of course we all think the absolute worse in these circumstances and I've got  to wait until a week Wednesday for the results, I'm hoping what they have told me today is accurate and I've got nothing to worry too much about.

I just wanted to reach out in the meantime to say that even these hard lumps aren't always something to panic about from what I've been told today. Dr Google has lots of negative things to say about harder lumps but can only cause worry.

Praying for the all clear next week, amd wishing anyone reading this lots of luck who is worried. Xx

  • Hi Cath,

Many thanks for the update. I sincerely hope that what the nurse told you today and that all is ok. Try to keep yourself busy for the next few days - this should help to take your mind off the wait.

Please don't forget to let us know the outcome.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks for the update fingers crossed for your results next week x

  • Thank you Lenell84. Hope you are OK. X

  • Update!!!!

I just wanted to update everyone and share how lucky I am getting the all clear yesterday! Thankfully both biopsies taken contained normal cells and the doctor who called me said its just Fribomous tissues if that's how you spell it ?? Normal breast changes for my age in normal lamgugae for people like me who need to google these conditions/diagnoses words.

My lump is firm fixed close to my rib cage and ultrasound sonographer wasnt sure what it was .

So there is hope that all hard fixed lumps are not anything serious!

Thank you everyone qho replied on my thread and I hope and pray anyone else going through this horrible time of waiting and worry gets positive news too. I wish we all could. Xxxxxxx

  • That’s brilliant news you can de-stress now and get on with things. Thanks for letting us know :) xxx

  • Hi Cath,

Many thanks for the update. I am absolutely delighted that you got the all clear - I can almost feel your relief from here. Now you can get back to living life to the fullest.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
