Firm lump found

Okay so long post after finding another lump and scared beyond belief! Wanted to see if anyone else on here is on the same position or can offer advice or support please to stop me turning grey with worry. So 8 days after my period I noticed a small firm lump in the upper inner area of my right breast. Got it checked out and the nurse also felt the lump so the fast track referral came my way for 11th Sept. The worry on my mind and panic I've ended up booking private for a breast consultation with Nuffield and went today. Whilst he wasn't hugely concerned he has referred me for an ultrasound on Wednesday because he could also feel what he said was either muscle infront of my rib leading to it stick out, or a cyst. He told me not to worry as if didnt feel it was a suspicious lump.  I

However my mind 0-million in that brief chat and googling breast cysts makes me paranoid incase it's a suspicious cyst. I've read on doctor Google the varying ones and some are the big C word and pr ing it's just a normal simple cyst if that's what it is.

Bit of background on the same breast. I had the same location checked in 2017in breast unit from fast track referral. Although the nurse couldn't feel anything she described as sinister, I insisted on a scan. The girl scanning did see something but said it fitted in with what the nurse told me about hormonal cysts. It wasn't ever checked though and now on my mind again. Arrragghh..

  • Thank you so much for your reply. I've been going out of my mind and must stop googling. I can't even feel the lump now and think I'm paranoid. The consultant I'm hoping is right in his thinking that its just breast tissue that my rib is pushing out. Do you have a scan coming up soon moo41?

I hhope too all goes well for yours. I think I am going to wait until my NHS appointment on 11th at the one stop clinic otherwise it will be an ultrasound on Wednesday, review Thursday and if anything is seen will need to go back the following week. I don't think this os good for me mentally and be better all in one day to be scanned/possible further testing so I don't have time to think about it inbetween!

  • Yes it does sound like you might be best to wait until 11th then. You could always call up and ask to be notified if there are any cancellations beforehand - explain your anxiety, they are usually very understanding. Although, having said that, if there's nothing to worry about then they should be able to tell you that from the US so you might be best to go Wednesday. I don't think there's a right answer really, there's always a wait with these things and only people going, or who have been, through it will understand how it feels.

I'm not waiting for a scan but for results of an excision. First went to the one stop breast clinic on 25th July, had the excision on Tuesday just gone and have to wait until 5th Sept for the results. The waiting is hell!

  • I'm sending over lots of positivity for your results Moo41 and crossing everything for your results to be all fine. Its super hard the wait being in limbo. I'm my own worst enemy to be honest and nerd to accept what will be will be.

I hope you don't have to wait too much longer, we are strongand got this together!

  • Thanks Cath, hear to chat if you need to. let's keep each other updated.

Next week is busy with work and my two kids going back to school so hopefully it will go quickly!

Have you got some things you can plan to fill your time?
