What a stressful time it must be for you after getting this call back for another mammogram and finding out that a suspicious lump was found. As you have a history of fibroadenomas, it is certainly not impossible that it is related to this but unfortunately it's difficult to tell really what it might be until you get all your results. There is information on the Breast Cancer Now website on fibroadenomas which mentions that they "often develop during puberty so are mostly found in young women, but they can occur in women of any age". If you would like to talk about this to one of our cancer nurses, feel free to give them a call on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they will be happy to answer questions you may have. 

You're right to try not to have negative thoughts if you can while you are waiting to find out more and we are certainly keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be nothing of concern. The long wait for answers can be so difficult and I hope that you get some clarity very soon once they have gathered all your results. In the meantime, I thought I would share with you these helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for these important results. Keep away from the temptation to look anything up online as it will only make you feel more anxious. Hopefully you will hear from other members of our forum who have been in a similar situation and they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

I am sorry to hear that you have had a call back following your mammogram, but glad to hear that you have had the necessary tests carried out. It is always a worrying wait for biopsy results and I sincerely hope that this turns out to be another Fibroadenoma. Have you been told when you will get the results?

Thank you I went bk after they called me bk I had another mammogram done,an ultra sound and core biopsy, the lump was non palable, now I'm having to wait another 2 wks for my results,it has been a long wait and I'm still trying to think positive,although I wont lie I did look on internet, but I realised it does nothing to help,and I've always been the one to tell people friends etc not to look on the internet,anyhow I've one week to wait now for my results,I'm just trying to keep myself busy at wrk as I wrk nights in a care home, n picking the odd shifts up to pass the time quicker ,xx

Keeping busy is the best way to pass the time. You are so right about the internet. It is nobody's friend at this stage and only serves to scare you more. It's good to hear that you only have a week left to wait, although I know that this can feel like forever. In the meantime, weare always here for you.

I've also got a week to wait for the results of an excisional biopsy I had last Tuesday. It's been an awful wait so far and I'm also trying not to Google but it's so hard. I speak to family and friends and everyone just says 'oh I'm sure it'll be fine'. I know they are just trying to help but I just want someone who understands to talk to! Let's hope the next week goes quickly and that it's good news for us both! What date is your appointment?
