Painful Ultrasound and Biopsy

Hello I'm interested if anyone has had a similar experience. I had a post menopausal bleed about a month ago, doctor referred me for tests. I had a trans vaginal ultrasound which was very  uncomfortable and painful, then a womb biopsy which was also painful. I have a very high pain threshold so was surprised by both. This was two and half weeks ago and I'm still experiencing pelvic pain which rad iates out to my hips. Also my ovaries weren't apparent on the scan, but at 55 that's maybe to be expected!!

  • Hello Mimi67,

It's good you had this post menopausal bleed investigated and I am sorry to hear that the transvaginal ultrasound was very uncomfortable and painful as well as the womb biopsy. Perhaps you should mention this to your GP and ask whether this was to be expected and make sure you inform them too of the pelvic pain you are still experiencing and the fact that it is radiating out to your hips. You could also ask why your ovaries were not apparent on the scan - it's important that you get the answers you need for complete reassurance so don't hesitate to bring those questions up with your doctor.

Waiting for results is truly stressful and I hope that you get some definite answers very soon. There are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope that you will hear from the experiences of others on our forum who may have been in a similar place before.

Keeping everything crossed for you that you have an explanation soon to these issues you experienced when you had these tests done and that it all turns out to be nothing of concern.

    Best wishes,
