Lymph nodes

I am worried sick.

I've been dragging a pain in my back/ribcage for over 2 years now. There's been a lump that the doctors just brushed off.

I've finally managed to push my doctor enough to have me sent to get an ultrasound and so it seems I have a swollen lymph node.

Another one seems to be starting on the same spot on the other side.

Doctor will try to send me to get a CT scan but it might take weeks to even hear back from them if I will even get an appointment.

I have very, very itchy skin however it is dry and lotions can only do so much. No other symptoms though.

Just because of how long I've had it I am worried sick.

I am an anxious person and I did have a cough and pain in my chest for some time but that comes and goes (so maybe I should atribute it to anxiety). Should lymphoma have more permanent symptoms?

I've, of course, googled my symptoms and made things much worse for myself.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

  • Hello VBRA

I'm sorry to hear that you've had some ongoing health concerns for a while now but that you're now having some investigations.

It's understandable that you're feeling anxious and I think that many people will know this feeling. Waiting for tests and results can be difficult and often people turn to the internet to look for information. Unfortunately what often happens is that people don't find answers, instead they are left feeling more worried. Try to avoid searching the internet if you can.

If you think it might help to chat things through with one of our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope you have some reassurance soon.

    Best wishes,

  • I have multiple enlarged lymph nodes all over my abdomen after getting a CT scan and was told I need a biopsy with cancer concerns. The biopsy was denied from radiology because they want me to have a PET scan first. Now I have to wait longer. The waiting is hard. Good Luck! It's possible that you have an infection. Were your white blood cells elevated? Hopefully you can get an appointment with some answers quickly.
