High Calformation Markers

Hi everyone, I'll apologize in advance for the long post. Approx 2 years ago my husband (aged 48) was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) (a form of Arthritis) he was talking Naproxen for many years prior to this diagnosis and was continuing to take it up until about 4 weeks ago. He went to the Dr as he started to have a burning sensation in his stomach, the Dr thought a possible stomach ulcer so advised to stop taking the Naproxen.

Fast forward 4 weeks and my husband has had constant stomach problems, he went back to the Dr who said his stomach felt inflamed. Alongside the stomach gnawing (as he described it) he did on a couple of occasions have bright red blood along with a bowel movement which the Dr believed was hemerroids.

We have just received his results from his stool sample which shows his Calformation level at 173. He isn't losing any weight and continues to eat as normal.

I just wanted to see if anyone had anything similar? There is an apparent link between AS and gastrointestinal issues. Any advice is greatly appreciated, many thanks ️Xx

  • Hello PositiveThinkingAlways,

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's symptoms. It's hard to say but I hope the doctor can address your concerns in an upcoming appointment and keep them informed if the symptoms change. Your husband may need further tests to be sure. If you would like to read more about coping with Ankylosing Spondylitis, you can here.

    I hope this helps,
