Hello Jane ,I had double mastectomy last September, didn’t really feel that sore ,but tender . It’s a big op ,are the district nurses calling .? If you have concerns phone the Breast Nurse or even the ward you stayed on .Is it hot to touch ?. I still have numbness on the scar now . I didn’t wear the softies ,went flat for a long time . Let me know how you get on xx

Thanks for replying rumplestiltskin. No distric nurses, I saw the clinic nurse when I had the drain out and was feeling ok at that point, then I developed a lump and phoned and was told it was a seroma and see how it is in a months time. Since then it's become incredibly sore, almost like I've been scalded and it's sensitiveto any touch so I can hardly stand the feel of a cotton top and definitely not a softie. My surgeons on holiday and I'm not sure if I should wait for the 4 weeks or ring them again. I'd not expected it to get more painful over time.

sone consultants drain these some leave my consultants left mine said to leave nature donuts thing it was about 6 months before it went totally , I also had that sting that you are saying about , they say it’s not a complication and as long as it’s not infected it should be ok they told me if it came infected to go straight to the clinic

I am sorry to hear that you are  incredibly sore following your mastectomy.

Like Rumplestiltskin, I had a double mastectomy 13 years ago and developed seroma. They became increasingly sore and a nurse drained them a few times. Each time they were drained, I felt a tremendous relief, but the fluid did build up again. An infection could also cause similar pain. Why not phone your breast care nurse again? She could arrange for you to be seen and have some intervention if necessary. You don't need to wait for your consultant to return from holiday, as it is the nurses who carry out this procedure.

I sincerely hope that they can do something to help you.
