endometrial polyps - reoccuring/ovarian cyst - here we go again

A bit of background - I was referred June 2022 for irregular bleeding, assumed post menopausal as I had previously been on the coil and not had periods. Initial ultrasound and hysteroscopy found cysts on both ovaries of between 1cm and 5.5cm, thickened womb lining, polyps and fibroids. I was sent for blood tests, CT and MRI scans. Results - CA125 normal, CA19.9 raised, cysts appeared benign and womb biopsies normal. I had repeated ultrasounds and hysteroscopy/biopsy after 6 months as well as the polyps removed and a mirena coil fitted. Again all but the CA19.9 normal. Then last week I had another 6 month ultrasound which resulted in a phone call from the hospital and a further hysteroscopy yesterday. I have had another 3 polyps form (removed yesterday) as well as a 1.5cm fibroid that would need surgery under GA for removal (she said fibroids are never cancerous though). The coil had disappeared but only within the last month (two max) so a new one was fitted. Obviously I'm a little worried now and perhaps looking for a bit of reassurance that polyps reoccuring so quickly does not mean anything

  • Hello Leni56

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some ongoing health problems and that your recent checkup revealed that some more polyps have grown. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious.

Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long for the procedure and the team will be able to give you some reassurance regarding your concerns. In the meantime, if you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice and support they can ahead of your appointment.

    Best wishes,
