Breast clinic on Tuesday

Hi everyone it's my first time posting.

So I went to the GP last week about skin changes on my breast. It's really dry and scaly, and I have nipple discharge. They've referred me to the breast clinic and I have my appointment on Tuesday. What's likely to happen whilst I'm there? Do they always do a biopsy? I'm absolutely worried sick that it's cancer. How do people cope before their appointment? Thank you

Hi El ,brilliant that your appointment is on Tuesday . You are bound to worry but everyone there is very friendly and helpful.I had an inverted nipple and some hardening in my left breast last year . Went to Gp and had a referral pretty quickly. Had mammogram , biopsy and saw consultant and breast nurse there and then . Mine was breast cancer and I had my op last September , followed by chemo . Everything went well and I am back to normal . I kept myself busy , socialised with friends and family . Talked about it too . First of all you will have a breast examination, followed by a mammogram, once that has been studied you might have an ultrasound scan. Following the outcome for that, if everything is fine, they will be waving you out the door. If they have tge slightest suspicion about what they see, they will, most likely, do a core needle biopsy which doesn't hurt as they will use a local anesthetic which can briefly be a bit stinging but manageable. Then you will have a chat with a doctor or breast nurse who will answer any questions you have. Even if they do a biopsy this doesn't mean you have cancer, it just means they want to be super sure that there isn't any cancer. After that it's about a 2 week wait for results which is the hard part, something I am going through at the moment, should get results next week. Hope they will be waving you out the door with nothing to worry about.

Thank you! Yes less than a week to go now appointment is Thur I am trying g to pack go on holiday on Sunday to Greece but goodness not feeling it!
