Tongue biopsy + MRI and CT

Hello guys, very very helpful forum.

I had a tongue biopsy today due to an ulcer to the side of my tongue that hasn't gone away in 2 months and was growing.

From reading this forum the order normally goes;

You get diagnosed with cancer, MRI CT. I am supper worried as the results for the biopsy are not due until the 16th but they are fast tracking me for an MRI and CT scan. The doctors did not help but basically telling me to prepare for the worst.

My question really is... Could it be something else other than cancer?

I'm 30 and have been smoking and drinking since I was 16...

I am so scared....

  • The other thing what worries me is that following a dentist appointment I was referred to maxillofacial surgery 2 weeks later.

    The maxillofacial surgeon booked me in for a biopsy 4 hours after the initial appointment.... I am really struggling to see any other outcome apart from cancer.

  • Oh I feel your fear as I went through the same fear when I had an ulcer on my tonsil and got refered to ENT and was the worse couple of weeks of my life having a mri scan and blood tests which all came back clear turned out I just had bad case of tonsillitis’s strep that lasted 4 months. I hope you get good results xx

  • Thanks for the reply.... Still waiting for the results. I will update once I get them.... I work as a police officer and I have seen some truly horrifying things and dealt with situations normal people will probably never deal with. But I have never felt this fear and I am truly terrified....

    Hopefully it's nothing..... But we'll have to wait and see... Only people that have been through this fear can truly understand it and I salute you all!

  • For anyone going through what I was experiencing. Just know there is still hope. I was convinced it was cancer and so were the doctors. The results were back today and I am over the moon as it was diagnosed as pyogenic granuloma.

    I felt like I had to update so so many of the posts I was reading were not updated while I was reading on it.

    I really and genuinely hope nobody has to ever go through this again.

  • Sorry I was meant to reply and say that’s amazing newsssssss so happy for you now you can go on with your life x
