Thickening in lower inner quadrant of breast

Hi everyone, hope everyone’s well! At the start of this year I started to experience breast pain just on the underneath of my breast. I watched it for a few weeks and then spoke to the doctor that I also found something unusual like a lump. I was terrified as I was only 18 at the time (19 now). I went to the gp and was referred to the breast clinic for an ultrasound. Results came back and everything was fine. This was in May/June. I decided to forget about it as I was told I had normal lumpy breasts overlying my rib which is thought to protrude outwards a bit on my right side (where I found a lump). However here I am in late July booking another gp appointment because I was so nervous and anxious about it. Im going back to see if they can feel a lump or if it’s just me. If anyone has experienced anything similar and has any advice for a younger person such as me I would really appreciate it. thank you xxx

  • Hello lilynormaclaire and welcome to our forum.

It's good to see that you took proactive steps by visiting your GP and getting an ultrasound earlier this year. It's natural to feel worried and anxious about breast health concerns, especially at a young age. Don't hesitate to discuss your concerns openly during your appointment.

In the meantime I hope others who can relate to what  you're going through will come along shortly to chat with you and offer advice.

Once you know more, please come back and give us an update.

    All the best,

  • Hi lily, no advice as I don't know what 'thickening means. But I have recently found a lump and have my first appointment with the breast clinic tomorrow so I can imagine how your feeling

I'm older than you (36) you defo have age on your side it would be very very rare to have BC ar your age but your absolutely doing the right thing going back to see your gp. Any changes or concerns need looking at properly

  • Hi everyone,

thank you for replying, I went to my gp appointment today and got the all ok, she did a breast exam and said that there is a lump but she is not worried because I had the ultrasound in May. She said because of my age my breasts will undergo many changes and it is normal to have lumpy breasts, sometimes one more than the other. I am a bit less worried now but still wondering why I have a firm but movable lump(thickening). I however trust the doctors so will calm down now.

all the best to everyone xxx
