Breast Lump - Breast Clinic Referral

Hi all, looking for a bit of advice. I'm 27 and I have a very dense and fibrous right breast which has given me a few scares over the past five years. I've been to the breast clinic twice before and thankfully it's just come back as fibrous tissue. I recently found a lump near my nipple this time and I'm just back from my GP appointment. She checked everywhere including the lump but didn't seem concerned. She said it feels like a fibroadenoma and to try and not worry but I'm being referred again for peace of mind/just to make sure. This will be my third time in 5 years so I find it all a bit triggering. Although the lump is firm, she said it's a good sign because it's moveable and it has smooth edges etc. I'm happy that she didn't seem concerned but you never 100% know. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? I find it hard trusting health professionals because my health anxiety takes over and I don't want to get my hopes up. Thanks for your time x

  • Hi everyone, so I had an appointment with the consultant today who was lovely. She examined me and doesn't feel anything worrying, just feels like more thick/fibrous tissue to her/a fibroadenoma. She's referring me for a non-urgent ultrasound as she's not worried. So, good news! But a little disappointing that I didn't get the scan today. The letter was really misleading, saying I would be there for up to 2 hours for all the necessary tests and investigations. Could be a bit of a wait for the ultrasound but she did take note that I'm getting married in 7 weeks, so hopefully that speeds up the last of things.

Happy everything is sounding positive but it's just scary how thick, fibrous and ever-changing my boob is. I'll let everyone know when my appointment letter comes through - I can't thank you all enough for your support so far x

  • Hi Anneroseina,

Thank you for the update. This is fantastic news. It is a pity that you couldn't have had your ultrasound today and got all the tests over and done with. However, it is good to hear that they are investigating this thoroughly, if only for your own peace of mind.

Here's hoping that you get the US and results back before your wedding and then you'll be really able to enjoy the day, as you should.

Please let us know how you get on.

    Kindregards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Brilliant news , so happy to hear that . Enjoy your wedding now ,and hopefully have the other results by then xx

  • So happy for you   I too had good news today. I went to my follow up appointment. You ladies gave me lots of support and reassurance but I was still worried and needed to hear it. So, when I got to my appointment the consultant started the conversation with, ‘we don’t normally follow up this quick but’

I tell you My heart flipped over until she went on to say,

’‘as you came in on an emergency appointment that was slotted in, we didn’t  to see you afterwards’

She went on to tell everything was fine. I have other cysts in my breast but none big enough to be drained. She said there is a possibility they could increase in size (I hope not I couldn’t stand the anxiety again!) but there is nothing to worry about.

I am so happy but again sparing  a thought for those not so lucky and those leaving breast clinics today with not so positive news.

    much love all

    from Chel

  • Lovely to hear good new from you too Chelbel , xx

  • Hi Chel,

Thank you for the update. I am so delighted to hear your good news. You must feel so relieved tonight. Here's hoping that your cysts don't grow big enough to need to be drained. However, it's a fairly simple procedure even if they do.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Amazing Chel, so pleased for you! x
