Terrified!

Hi, I had a colonoscopy 3 weeks ago and they found a polyp and took 3 biopsies. I hadn't heard any results but got a call from the hospital ct department to say they had been asked to book me an emergency ct. They booked for the next day. Then I received a call saying I needed an MRI. This booked for next day also. I didn't have a clue why? Then on Friday, i received a copy of a clinical letter from the collorectal team say the biopsy showed some potentially concerning changes? Does this mean cancer? Has anyone had changes found in a biopsy and it didnt mean cancer?

  • That must be so worrying for you but on the other hand at least they haven't missed anything ,that's what the tests are for to reveal any changes before it gets out of control ,just go with it sometimes the wording leads you to terrifying places but even if there are some changes very good treatments are available these days so try not to worry too much until you know what they found ,let us know how you get on there's always someone here for you x

  • Hi Jenny, thank you for your reassuring advice. I guess we all know we shouldn't second guess these things but it's hard not to. I am incredibly grateful that I was given the scans promptly. I will try and stay positive and I'll keep you updated.

  • Hi I know how you feel I had a high ca125 blood count and a colonoscopy an ultrasound and a Hysteroscopy with biopsies taken thankfully I didn't have any serious findings but I've been through the worry but was glad I went and had the tests .

  • Hi all, I have an update, of sorts. I was on a list to be discussed at an MDT meeting last Thursday. Unfortunately my MRI report was not ready. So I'm on this Thursdays list. Fingers crossed I hear mething on Friday. I'm feeling ok about it all now. No point in worrying till I need to. I've found it incredibly humbling reading peoples experiences. Wishing everyone all the very best

  • An update

I have had such a rollercoaster and it's not been as fun as Alton Towers!

So I had my collorectal meeting and I was diagnosed with a T1b N0 M0 rectal polyp and booked for an EMS to try and remove it. I was also told they found, incidentally, a mass on my kidney.

I had more scans on my kidney which was diagnosed as a 3.1cm RCC. I'm being booked for a robot assisted partial nephrectomy.

Meanwhile my bowel, takes precedence and the EMR was only partially successful so I was advised I would need a LAR with a temporary stoma. I asked if they would discuss some organ preserving options at the next MDT.

So my next colorectal meeting was with a new surgeon who specializes in TEMS. The biopsies from the pieces removed and the remaining polyp after my EMR came back benign and he said he wasnt convinced it was cancer??

So I'm booked in for another endoscopy where he would like to have  a really good look and possibly, if he thinks there is no malignancy attempt to remove it again or book me in for a TEMS proceedure. So I'm praying that on 3/10/23 this pesky polyp is removed! Sorry for the long post!
