Hyperplasia/polyps

Hi I'm 41 year old with lots of health problems ( antiphosphoilipid syndrome, brittle asthma, recurrent pe, type 2 diabetic, meningitis, and a few more . I'm very worried about my latest problems, I have been bleeding 3 weeks on then a few days of then bleeding again for about 4 years because of covid no-one has seen me so now they have they have found I have got hyperplasia with a thickened endometrial and large polyps I also bleed all the time when I go to the toilet, I'm waiting on my biopsies it's been 3 weeks and so scared as I haven't got the best of luck with my health, has anyone else got or had a similar problem.  Thanks x

  • A lot depends on what type of hyperplasia…if it’s atypia, which is what I have after it was found in a polyp, then it’s more of a worry than if it’s without atypia..atypia means precancerous cells and the treatment is usually a hysterectomy…however my hysterectomy had to be put back three months while I got my blood sugars down and in the meantime they’ve given me a mirena coil…mirena coil is also offered to younger women who may not have finished having children yet.

I expect they have removed the polyps or will remove them, that’s what they did with me..I’m older than you and post menopausal.  Waiting for biopsy results is awful, I’ve waited anything from 10 days to 6 weeks…I got my latest biopsy result yesterday after 5 weeks, this was thankfully normal so I’m still hoping the hyperplasia was just in the 1 polyp…

im having my hysterectomy on 18th September, I will then have another wait for the biopsy results…there is still a 40% chance that cancer will be found, but I just have to hope I’m in the 60%.

Hope everything comes back ok for you x

  • They haven't told me what hyperplasia I have and said because I'm on a lot of blood thinners they are unhappy to give me a hysterectomy.  Hope your op goes well fingers crossed for you x
