Womb cancer ?

Hi I’m just wondering about  any advice I went for a scan because I was having very heavy periods , they have seen my lining of the womb is very thickened my results were back in two days and I had the doctor phone me and explained I need to have a biopsy done just got to wait for an appointment should have one by the 25/7/23 has any one ever had this done I am absolutely terrified what the outcome could be never been so scared in my life as I am right now my periods have been like this for around two years and I had an internal scan few years back because of bleeding in between periods and pain after sexual intercourse they said they were all fine shoukd they not have checked up on me again with my symptoms earlier than now I’m so scared I can’t stop crying

  • I’ve had various scans and biopsies done in 2019 and again this year…both times they found polyps..I’m a bit unlucky in that one if my polyps had precancerous cells and I’m scheduled for a hysterectomy in September but I’m postmenopausal…please don’t overthink things…you are obviously much younger than me as you are still having periods and womb cancer is more likely to affect older women.

They will probably have a look around with a camera (hysteroscopy) and take a biopsy..the camera will show if you have any fibroids or polyps.

  • Thank you for this I was told I didn’t have fibroids or polyps last time I had a scan which they was thinking I did have luckily the scan didnt show anything I am hoping that’s all it is it’s so scary when you hear them words though isn’t it I hope your operation goes well and you are in the mend fast

  • My polyps weren’t picked up by the scan, only the thickened lining (7.6mm and 8mm respectively) but when I had the hysteroscopy (both times) they can make the lining look thicker, so if you have a hysteroscopy it could show up on that.

Just had my latest womb biopsy back ( 5 weeks waiting) and thankfully that was normal so I’m hoping my atypia hyperplasia might have been contained within the one polyp, but won’t know that until after my hysterectomy, just need to keep everything crossed!

I hope everything comes back as normal for you and they find the reason for your problems x

  • This sounds positive I’m really hoping thank you for sharing this with me I do appreciate it 5 weeks is such a long time I really hope it’s not that long to come back when I have it done does it hurt the biopsy I’m very anxious about that

fingers crossed for you hope all goes your way

  • I didn’t find any of the biopsies, hysteroscopies, Myosure procedure or the Mirena coil being put in painful…sone women do, sone can’t tolerate any of it as an outpatient and have to have a general, but I found chatting to the nurses about any old rubbish took my mind if things, they will always stop if you find it painful…they suggest paracetamol and/or ibuprofen but I didn’t take anything..i surprised myself as have a low pain threshold…you should see me at the dentist!

Everyone is different but it’s best to just try and think about something nice and chat with the nurses, they will hold your hand too if you feel the need!
