Exhausted waiting for biopsy

Three weeks ago I went for my routine mammogram. A week ago recieved a letter that I needed further test. Had another mammogram, ultrasound scan and a biopsy. The staff were so calming and helpful. I was told my results would be given  today, through another appointment. I got a phonecall today, telling me my results aren't back and rearranged a new appointment for next Thursday. I always considered my self quite a calm person. However the past week has been horrendous. I am completely all over. I feel guilt for feeling how I do. My sleep has been none existent. I guess its all anxiety but I cannot believe I feel like this. Since the phonecall this morning I feel completely washed out with no energy. How am I going to keep myself going when all I feel like doing hibernating

  • I am in a similar time frame, had a biopsy on Thursday but told I wouldn't get results for 2-3 weeks.  Funnily enough, I am sleeping well, I am doing loads of research, looking at natural health supplements that may support any treatment I need to have.  Gut health is very important, well its important for us anyway.  I have a great recipe book called Nourish, The Cancer Care Cookbook by Penny Brohn.  Its got some really tasty recipes in it, used it a lot when my OH was diagnosed with lymphoma 9 years ago.  Exercise is also important, with 4 lurchers I do walk a lot except they are refusing to venture out in this horrible weather, just dashing out to do the necessary.  I haven't done any workouts for a few weeks as I broke my ribs falling off a horse, the CT scan reveals 6 breaks and what the radiologist thought was a fibroadenoma on my breast and recommended referral to the breast clinic which is why I am where I am now although fibroadenoma has been ruled out because the shape is wrong and the lack of defined edges shown on the ultrasound.  Workouts start again on Monday, I think the ribs are up to it and my biopsy site is fine. I find researching and being prepared suits me better than not knowing what could go on.  I know some people don't really want to know specifics.  I have ordered probiotics, at least, for me, the feeling that I am doing something really helps.  I did have my first very short tearful blip this morning since finding out that on a 1-5 scale, they scored a 4 as the cancer possibility.  I hope you get negative results and they come through very soon for you.

  • Hi Nettietoo,

I am sorry to hear about your riding accident, although it may have been prophetic if it has shown up something untoward. This is always a worrying time and no matter how pro-active you are, you are bound to have some tearful blips too. Don't worry about these, as the release of those tears is a great stress reliever. The unknown is always difficult to deal with and irrespective of the outcome, you'll feel better once you know exactly what you are dealing with.

I sincerely hope that your care team are mistaken about the possibility. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Jolamine, thank you for your kind words, its just a day at a time for now.  Indeed, I will let you know the outcome.  x

  • We are all thinking of you and hope the outcome will be a good one.
