Lung xray

I am really scared. I went to the hospital with palpitations and they ended up giving me a chest xray. 2 weeks later I got a text from my GP that says on the xray it looks like I've had a recent chest infection and they want to repeat it in the middle of August.

The thing is I haven't had a chest infection recently and I've jumped straight to the worse case scenario.

For over 18 months I've been wheezing (sounds like birds singing when I'm sat quietly) and I always feel like I've just chocked on water, you like after you have recovered from it and it feels a bit thickly, like that, but I put it down to GERD (bad heartburn).

Ive been getting out of breath a lot too but I put that down to my weight and the fact I've not been able to get about much with osteoarthritis.

Safe to say I am really worried. I'm only 44 I don't smoke and I've got young kids. I'm so. Scared.

  • Hello Missyell

I'm sorry that your recent x-ray results have left you feeling worried. You mention that your GP surgery text you and that they would like to repeat the x-ray in mid-August. Have you spoken with a Dr at your surgery to explain your concerns and the ongoing symptoms that you've mentioned? If not then it would be a good idea to make an appointment to talk things through with one of the doctors.

We know that for many people, waiting for tests and results can be an anxious time. Sometimes talking to someone can help to ease these anxieties so do give your GP a call when you're able to. Alternatively, if you'd like to chat with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope things settle and improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
