Breast clinic referral from inverted nipple

Hi, can across this chat when Google breast referral. Noticed my nipple inverted about 3 weeks ago. It was slightly sore but OK then although still inverted not as sore. Went to Dr this week and she refered .me to breast clinic. She did check them and ask usual questions and said for inverted nipple guidlines are a referral .im 47. 

Waiting now for letter to come..... wished I'd asked Dr more questions. I know not to ask Dr google but when reading reason for it, I came up with infection as possibly. It's not flaky/leaking and i feeling ok but there is a lump behind nipple. I'm just wondering if they could tell if it was in infection from just habeing a look. Just seems strange to have to wait so long for an appointment whe if its a infection they could have given me antibiotics while I wait for my appointment. Hoping its nothing.

    its best to get everything checked at the breast clinic GP are just using guidelines, the breast clinics are the professionals. 
    hope you don’t have long to wait , you are definitely doing the right thing

    Hi , you seem to have the right approach.. GP doing what's best if infection was obvious then yes anti biotic. There could be something other & best to get breat clinic to have mammogram.  Don't overthink this, as you don't know answers yet. The waiting is anxious & you are going to get answers soon.     Thanks guys. Yeh hopefully hear soon. For someone who isn't a worrier generally, its amazing how something like this and the thoughts that go through your head.

    Hi, had my appointment today. Had Mamogram, ultrasound.  Looks like an infection.  Wish I didn't have to wait 3 weeks to be told that, but glad that's what it is. Got antibiotics and will get appointment for 6 week and to go  if don't think it's cleared up.  Hopefully this will sort it.
