Thanks for replying. The GP checked that and said everything looked fine. He wasn't concerned really so I don't know if I'm over reacting. It is very small and not bigger than 1cm. It has really worried me though I must admit 

That’s a good thing if he wasn’t concerned. 

My GP did bloods and all came back normal, he asked me to wait 2 weeks further to see if any change in size. I had no change all 4/5 lymph nodes still large and firm. When I came in he felt my neck and under jaw and said he was not concerned but due to their size he would like to refer me for a scan for peace of mind. He said its likely they will come back all okay... but as I have not been unwell in the last few months and have no infections and good bloodwork, I am not so sure.

Funnily enough I've spoken to my brother tonight and he has one in exactly the same spot on the opposite side of his neck/throat and has had it for over 10 years. He wasn't ill and had no other symptoms, said the GP wasn't concerned at all and its not changed since that time. He reckons his lump is bigger than mine and doesn't think I need to worry but can see why I am. That's what is causing me to worry as I can't put it down to anything. It has just appeared out of nowhere. Of course I'll keep you updated on how the appointment with the ENT goes 

I have read that some people can just have various sized lymph nodes and just because the normal is 1cm and under doesn't mean its abnormal to be a bit larger. Weirdly enough my son has a lymph node that is easily felt in the exact same place as where I found the first one on my neck. He's just under 2 years old but random anyway.

Hi both, had my appointment with ENT consultant this morning. Over the weekend the lump became quite tender and it felt hot, I've also noticed that I have constant phlegm at the back of my throat, as of yesterday though the lump seemed to return to how it first felt, size still remains small and has not changed. She asked me to point out where I thought the lump was. She was really nice and talked me through everything as we went along. She physically checked my mouth, ears and neck and said it all feels as it should. I then had the nasolaryngoscopy which is the fibre optic tube down your nose, didn't feel a thing as they give you a numbing spray up your nose, didn't taste great though. She checked everything and said she couldn't see anything abnormal and no legions, everything looks healthy and as it should. She stated that my lump could have been caused by trauma to the neck when eating something which is why it then would have become inflamed, and then mucus getting caught at the back of my throat as a result, but she states its sorted itself out and back to normal. As I said before my brother has one very similar on the opposite side of his neck. I feel more at ease now but I will continue to monitor now and again for anymore changes.

Oh wish you all the best for tomorrow, I have mine on Thursday to hear about my mri results and blood test results. ENT will ask you some questions and then look down your throat hopfully you’ll just be sent away and discharged.
