Don’t know what to think

So I have been having ongoing sore throat problems for a while tonsillitis’s strep you name it Iv had it. I recently had a MRI and awaiting results. In the mean time I noticed a little lump near my tonsil so I went to my Dr who said she got a letter from hospital but she can’t tell me anything or doesn’t know anything until the consultant reads it and then informs my Gp. Didn’t know what to make of that as she just told me she received a letter surely can’t be about my ENT appointment as that was a month away. Anyways I then called the ENT department and asked if my results were in and she said they have come back but she can’t say anything obviously me being anxious I tried to get as much out of her as possible and kept going on about if something was wrong would the consultant call me and she said if something was wrong we would have changed your next appointment. My next appointments is 27th which was made before the mri scan. She then went to look to see why he would request a face to face and not phone call but said he wants a face to face again this appoitnment was made before my MRI scan. She could tell I was nervous as I wouldn’t let her go and kept asking questions and she just kept replying it’s fine it’s fine keep that appointment it’s fine.

so now my question is does she have access to results? Like can she is what’s written but obviously can not say anything. Also now I’m thinking the letter my Gp got was probably my results of the mri but she couldn’t tell me either without me having my consultant appoitnment as during my time I did tell her my worries about throat cancer and she assured me it’s nothing like that.

sorry I know this is a lot I’m just talking out loud here trying to work out if it’s bad or not so bad. Any advise would be appreciated     Xx

  • Hello Sweetcheeks

I'm sorry to hear that you're still feeling so very anxious about the results that you're waiting for. We know that for many people this period of waiting can be difficult and it's natural to try and read between the lines and wonder why a particular type of appointment or date has been given. Unfortunately no one here can give you a definitive answer and it's a case of waiting to see the Consultant on the 27th.

In the meantime if you'd like to talk with one of our nurses for some support and advice you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,
