I'm just wondering if you're on the 2ww how come you have to wait up to 20 weeks ,that doesn't sound right ,I was on the 2 ww and I was seen within the 2 weeks ,I hope you get seen quicker maybe there's been some mix up and you're not on the 2 ww ,I'm sure I've heard of that happening before ,I would try to sort it out before going into debt it might be a simple error x

Hi thanks so much for replying. I'm on the 2ww and my gp has done 2 referral forms now to yry and expedite. The hospital are saying they have no staff and have a backlog. My gp is frustrated as he knows I need to be seen. Although I read on the nhs website that I have a legal right to be seen in 2 weeks - I just don't know how to enforce that if they just tell me they have no appointments. It's just beyond belief that I'm in this situation :(

I would check with your GP to make sure you are on the 2am pathway. It could be it wasn’t clear from the referral letter. 20 weeks sounds like the standard waiting time for a gynae appointment not an urgent referral. I’ve been on the 2ww rwice and both times seen within 2 weeks. I think if your Gp confirms that you have an urgent referral they may well contact the hospital on your behalf. 

Wow that is very worrying the waiting times at certain hospitals are growing and I know they are very short staffed but as your GP has said you need to be seen asap ,other than that it looks like you might have to go private it could be money well spent let is know how you get on x

Hi they have done and they've been told the same as me. My first referral form lacked all the info so they completed another with more detail. That one has now been cancelled as they've allegedly 'put me on the list' to be seen from my first referral but the wait times are that long. 

I've rang them several times and asked for an explanation as to how this can be ok- but they just tell me there's a lack of appointments.

I feel like my hands are completely tied and needed to know if others were experiencing this 

That's what I'm starting to think. I'm running out of options to escalate it and it's now 3 weeks since my referral. I think I'll just have to make the private appt tomorrow x

Goodness that is awful are you in an area where you could be referred to a different hospital even though it’s further away? I am fortunate living in Soth London and there are plenty of big hospitals around with gynae departments 

I would definitely do the same there seems no one else to turn to, there's no way I would wait up to 20 weeks you needs to do what's best for you at lest you should get the results very quickly and then you can go from there ,hopefully it turns out to be nothing serious then you can get back to your life instead of worrying .
