Waiting for Breast Clinic Appt

Saw my ANP last week to check an indentation that I'd noticed in one of my breasts. She said she could see it and thought there was also a change of skin texture and although she said she doesn't think it's anything sinister she said she doesn't take risks with breasts and would refer me for a breast clinic appointment. Despite her saying it's hopefully nothing serious I can't help but worry/panic. I'm only 33 and have two young children. I don't have family living nearby so I know I'm going to have to go to the clinic on my own and I'm just scared. Don't quite know what to expect when I get there and just don't know who to talk to. My appointment is a week on Friday and I'm just not sure how to keep the anxiety at bay until then.

  • Hi Soleil and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about the changes you've noticed in your breast. I know this must be worrying but it's good to hear your ANP took this seriously and has referred you to the breast clinic.

Many of our members know how scary this process can be, especially when it's your first time, so you are not alone and hopefully some of them will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice.

I hope this information I've found on what to expect at a breast clinic appointment will help as well but if you'd like to discuss any of this with one of our nurses, you can do so on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very supportive and will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease.

We're thinking of you and wishing you all the best for next week. Until then, I hope some of the resources on the NHS Every Mind Matters website will help keep your mind and anxiety at bay.

    Kind regards,
