Hi!
I'm in a bit of a confusing situation right now and wonder if anyone has had similar.
Back in February I had a weird skin infection by my ear, two rounds of antibiotics and it cleared up eventually. Same time lumps started coming up in my neck and my salivary glands swelled up, as well as constant, asymmetrical bloating, raised nodes in groin, leg swelling, permanent non-productive cough and some random pains. Since then the neck and groin lumps have stayed up. Also lots of lipoma type lumps appearing along ribs and small string of pearls like ones going from my underarms to the top of my breasts/chest, they feel like they're surrounded by fluid almost. Also night sweats and always too hot or too cold, and unexplained weightloss - around a stone in 5/6 months without trying, despite having PCOS.
I went to see a nurse about the bloating early April, worried it was possibly an ovarian cyst. She mentioned ovarian cancer and ordered some blood tests. They came back slightly abnormal but they've been off for a long time, slightly raised wbc and a few others. A doctor phones me and I mention the lumps, again OC is mentioned and now lymphoma. Get called in super quick and see a lovely GP, who felt me over and agreed something wasn't right and ordered more bloods, including a myeloma screen, CA125 and LDH (I think). All clear, kappa near the high end but still within range, CA125 was 8.
She puts me on a 2w to haematology, who bounce it back and say go to ENT. A month later I'm finally seen by ENT, last Friday the 30th. Consultant very dismissive, says he can't feel any lumps even though I explained there's a lot of swelling and it definitely obscures things. Reluctantly agrees to a CT, felt like as much to cover his behind as find out what this is. Fast forward to Thursday and I get a call out the blue asking me to go for an ultrasound that afternoon. First I knew of it. Go along, radiographer only says "Do you know where you're here?" and then "All clear!" afterwards. I'm not sure if he meant the scan or more in an all done way or have you got all the gel off, as I was wiping it off with the help of the lovely nurse at the time. He took lots of photos and seemed thorough, but nothing given away.
Put it all to the back of my mind and think it's probably just an infection. Next day, Friday morning an appointment appears on my portal for 3 weeks after my CT. No details other than its under a new team, under the top dog at ENT. Slight worried now, as his thing is cancer and surgery. Not had any US results, so think if it was bad my doc would have rung... only I remember she doesn't work Fridays and now I'm sat here dreading what's coming.
I just don't know what to think, is it cancer or is it something like a biopsy or I've just got a salivary gland infection or something minor. My GP has been giving off this vibe the whole time that it doesn't look good and brushes aside all my other suggestions of possible cause. She's been a total Saint, but almost a bit too concerned. I'm only 35, not the healthiest ever but fairly fit for a tubby smoker and eat reasonably and walk a lot. Normally any health problem is pretty quickly dismissed by the GPs.
Getting the follow up so quickly really threw me, as I was thinking I'd get the scan and be discharged asap, they always try and get you off the books soon as they can. Plus it being the head chap's team has ramped up the fear factor. The not knowing is the worst, if it is bad I'll deal with it, but I've got no clue what's going on!
Sorry for the essay, I just needed to vent, as it was all getting a bit heavy.
Thanks for your time.
