Breast lump

Noticed a lump a few weeks ago. Can’t feel it standing up onky when I lie down. Went to doctor who agreed she could feel it and felt it extended towards my nipple. Examined under my arms but didn’t comment if she felt anything there or not. Asked me about family history. My mums aunt had breast cancer but not my mum or her sister. Don’t speak to my dads family so can’t comment if there is a history there. Urgent referral for Brest clinic made. I have told my partner but haven’t told anyone else. Recently over half a dozen folk I know in my age group all been diagnosed with breast cancer. Worried and anxious waiting for clinic appointment. Being a nurse doesn’t make waiting any easier. I know the process but not as a patient waiting to see a consultant. I purposely didn’t probe the doctor too much and she didn’t push it. She just said it would be an urgent cancer suspected referral

  • Hello @st160478. have you had your referral? This is such a scary time and the stress is exhausting

  • No I’m still waiting on appointment so no date to be seen yet. Just a waiting game. They can’t give me an idea of how long wit it. Just said they are very busy so it might be a few weeks. Are you waiting to be seen? X

  • Yes a long story but I was mistakenly booked into the breast clinic when it was men’s day. Consultant agreed to see me anyway but no mammogram as being men’s day it wasn’t staffed. Consultant said lump is firm but not attached. He seemed concerned about a rash on my boob. I told him I’d had new bras that had irritated however he booked me in for mammogram for next Monday. Can anyone answer would the rash concern him because he’s thinking inflammatory BC? It has almost gone now.

  • That’s a shame you were booked onto working clinic. I can’t answer your question about the rash, I don’t know the answer to that. Did he mention what he was thinking or just commented on it? Once you get your mammogram then they should have more answers for you. Just a shame you are having to wait longer x

  • He said it’s not good but I’m unsure if he meant the rash, the lump or both. He did say it makes a big difference when he was asking about the nature of the rash and he seemed to be more concerned with that

  •   did you get your appt yet??

  • Still haven’t heard anything. Apparently they are really busy so can’t give any waiting time guarantees. Should have been a 2 week referral to appointment but that’s been nearly 4 weeks now. The waiting isn’t great if I’m honest. Hard concentrating at work etc x

  • Hopefully you get some answers soon. It’s not great when you are waiting on tests/results x

  • Hi sr, I too have been referred to the breast clinic today after finding a lump in my right breast last night. I got told they usual contact you in the first week I can't believe you are still waiting! I'm already climbing the walls couldn't imagine 4 weeks of not hearing nothing! Hope you hear from them soon! I can feel my lump just above my nipple and can feel it sat up and lying down. Gp measured it at about 1cm. Just seemed to have popped up overnight! So scary!
