Borderline changes in endocervical cells - LLETZ

Hey all, hope you are doing okay.

Tried to search for any CGIN or as it said in my letter - 'glandular neoplasia - borderline changes in endocervical cells in conjunction with high-risk HPV' but I couldn't see anything posted about it, so thought I would jump on and say hello!I have been for my LLETZ on Monday morning, and boy was I brave.. You are all super heroes for having this done!!! I feel like they should give out stickers.

I'm not usually squeamish or shy/worried about getting my bits out to be looked at at any time (3 trainee midwives in with me during birth 13 years ago taught me there is no such thing as modesty) but I absolutely didn't dare look at the screen when she started injecting my cervix ready for taking the biopsy. Luckily for me, my husband came with and was fascinated and kept looking at the screen the whole time, told me afterwards all the gory details.

If you are worried about a LLETZ or LEEP, just to let you know I feel absolutely fine (Was done about 5 hours ago), was some shakes/racing heartbeat from the injections at the time but they have died down and now I have very minimal pain, enough that paracetamol works well.

I was just wondering with CGIN being Glandular if anyone has any success with an LLETZ or LEEP removing these cells? As from what I have 'doctor googled' about it myself, it is inside my cervix rather than on the surface?

I know I shouldn't google.... but I feel like I have to know everything about it seeing as its inside my bod?

For reference (if it helps) I had 3 smears that showed HPV from 2020 -2023, with the last one showing abnormal cells too. I was invited within 2 weeks for a colposcopy where they did the LLETZ there and then - No other symptoms apart from incredibly heavy periods most of my adult life.

Thanks so much (in advance) for any advice or support! The waiting around for results is tricky, but trying to keep my mind off it by spoiling myself with comfort food and trash TV!

  • Hello Becsh

I'm sorry to hear that you recently needed treatment for high-risk HPV with cervical cell changes. it's understandable that you may be feeling anxious ahead of the post-procedure results.

It's great to hear that your husband has been so supportive during this process. Having someone to lean on during this period of waiting can be really beneficial.

We have many women who have posted on the forum about treatment for CIN and CGIN and hopefully some of them will reply to share their stories with you. There's also lots of information available on the Jo's Trust website about treatment for cervical cell changes.

In the meantime, if you think it may help to talk things through with someone then you're most welcome to call our nurses on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I'm sure they will be happy to offer any advice, information, and support they can to reassure you whilst you're waiting for your follow-up.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi there

I know your post is from a while ago I just wondered how you were doing. I am scheduled to have a second lletz because my follow up smear after my precious one showed borderline endocervical cell change.

To be honest I’m not doing very well and have got myself into a bit of a state about this result, I keep thinking the worst as apparently this is a “rare” result and could mean something quite worrying.

I came across your post and wanted to check in.

    thanks
