Mole

Hello,

I hope I am ok posting here. I don’t know why but a few weeks ago I became very aware of a mole on the side of my head. I’m not sure if it’s new or not. I went to the dermatologist at my doctors surgery this morning and she didn’t seem to concerned she took some pictures and had a good look. Then asked me to come back in a month so she could have a look at it again to make sure there where no changes: Then this afternoon the hospital call me and say they have received and urgent request for me to go and have some medical pictures taken tomorrow to be sent to the consultant. I’m so worried and can’t help but think the worse. Has anyone else been in a situation like this?

    Hello HJW89, 

    You did the right thing in going to the dermatologist when you noticed this mole on the side of your head. I can imagine you got a bit worried when you got this phone call asking you to go to the hospital to get these photos taken when you were initially told to wait a month. By now you will have probably been seen at the hospital and I hope that you feel a bit better after your appointment. Try not to fear the worst if you can and keep well away from the temptation to look things up online - it's very difficult with moles especially not to be curious to find out more by looking at pictures online but often this only causes more confusion and anxiety. So all you have to do really for now is wait for the results and waiting is not by any means the easiest thing and there are helpful tips on this page to help you cope during this stressful time.
