Likely tonsil cancer…two Ops close together?

Hallo

Ive been diagnosed with “likely”tonsil cancer -had a tumour removed from it mid May but my body didn’t identify it in tests…but all the scans say it is

i now have an op on 1st August to remove that tonsil and good tissue around for further tests, two day stay in hospital. There will then be a second op on 11th from the outside (under ear to throat ) to remove 3 lymph glands with cancer and original cyst that highlighted the issue and I will be in hospital for a week

I have been concerned from the beginning about where it is and how it may affect me in many ways (and have read up on others journeys)

My concern now is how near to each other the operations are, surely my throat won’t have fully recovered from the inner op before they do the outer one? Has anyone had Ops that close together that can advise please?

thank you

  • Started with what was diagnosed as cyst on one side of my neck that had been there a couple of months after a “cold” and not gone down. I was  then was sent for further investigation  via a CTPET scan and later an MRI scan. They then took a tumour from my tonsil to send it for diagnosis which gets me to where I am now

  • Iv been having trouble with my tonsils since April on and off tonsilities then strep each time I take the antibiotics I get better but then a week later it comes back with swallon lymph nodes always on my right but this last one on my left. They eventually go down once the pis clear up and inflammation goes down but like I say it comes back after a week. Got refered to ENT and I have a mri scan on Friday that Iam freaking out about, can’t help but think I might have swollen nodes that I can’t feel and the mri will show them up!

I’m  sorry I can’t help with the surgery question but there are loads of threads on here that I have been reading through and have so much advise to share.
