Endometrial biopsy results wait

Hello!

I had some issues with bleeding none stop, which meant that I was referred to have a scan. The scan showed my womb lining was 20mm. I was told I’d be put on the 2ww pathway, so things moved quickly then.

I had an endometrial biopsy as well as a camera. When I woke up from my procedure the surgeon said my womb was still quite thick. However, when I was in the recovery ward a nurse said to me that she looked at the photos they took and didn’t think I had anything to worry about.

This upcoming Tuesday, will be 3 weeks since my procedure. I haven’t had my results back yet and I’m starting to think that maybe since it’s taking so long, there is no rush - which means it’s good news? I wasn’t told how long I’d need to wait my results, only that they’d be in writing.

has anyone else had to wait for their results? Thank you!

  • I had to wait 6 weeks for my last biopsy results and was starting to think everything must be fine like previously, however this time atypia hyperplasia was found in one of the polyps I had removed so I’m now booked in for a hysterectomy in September…with atypia hyperplasia there is a 40% chance that cancer will be found once everything is sent off for biopsy after the hysterectomy so I’m bracing myself for bad news..

My previous biopsies in 2019 were all normal, as was the womb lining biopsy this time..I’ve had a mirena coil put in and another biopsy taken 2 weeks ago but whatever that result I’ll be having a hysterectomy anyway.

Hoping everything comes back normal for you x

  • I should add I’m post menopausal

  • I was on the 2ww pathway last July and was told the results of my womb biopsy and various scans would be in writing. I got the results just over 4 weeks later. The womb biopsy was repeated in February this year and polyps/fibroids removed. The results were again in writing and just over 4 weeks again. My results came back normal and like MrsAA I've had a mirena coil put in which I'm told should return the womb lining gradually to normal. I was told there would be two more biopsies at 6 months intervals and if the results from them were normal, only then would I be discharged.

  • Thank you so much for your response! Fingers crossed for your results and good luck for September, I hope everything goes smoothly for you x

  • Thank you so much for this info, I really appreciate it. Fingers crossed for your next biopsies and hopefully you can be discharged! X
